BRUNI’S SNOW BOWL

Bruni’s Snow Bowl Hut rests atop a ridge at 4,250 feet, with a marvelous view of Mount Rainier, Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens. The hut is roomy and comfortable, with most of the comforts of home in the backcountry. The trek to Bruni’s can be quite challenging and you should be in good hiking condition.

How far is it to Snow Bowl?

From the main trail/road, Snow Bowl is approximately 3.0 miles with 1,800’ of elevation gain from the upper sno-park and 4.0 miles with 2,400’ of elevation gain from the lower sno-park.

What is in Snow Bowl?

Sleeping Arrangements: Sleeps 14. One large room and one small room with bunkbeds and floor mats.

Kitchen:

  • Cook stove and oven (Propane)
  • Pots, sauce pans, frying pans, bakeware, mixing bowls, measuring cups, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, silverware, knives, and cutting boards
  • Cleaning supplies – dish soap, hand soap, Clorox, etc.
  • Toilet paper, paper towels

Water Filter System: Rain water is collected in the summer. In the winter, water comes from snow melt. There is a sand water filter system to provide clean drinking water. All water should be treated.

Other Items: Some other amenities you will find:

  • Propane fireplace
  • Solar powered lighting
  • First Aid Kit
  • Large dining table
  • Games (cards, board games, etc.)
  • Books/Magazines

Restrooms: An outhouse are located outside of the hut.

Things to do Nearby

After the hike out here, you might just want to rest and enjoy the great views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. Or head down to the gazebo, built especially for Snow Bowl. If you are feeling up to it, you might venture out to visit High Hut or the Yurt for the day, both approximately 3.0 miles away.
